Jiuyao Kindergarten, a brainchild of ZHUBO Design, redefines early childhood education in Shenzhen's bustling Futian District. Completed in 2024, this innovative project transforms a highly restricted urban plot into a vibrant and imaginative 'small world' for children. The architects' vision was to craft an environment that actively engages young minds, departing from the conventional, often restrictive, perception of educational institutions. Despite the significant spatial limitations, the design prioritizes creating an enriching and playful atmosphere, proving that even within a dense urban landscape, a stimulating educational haven can flourish.
The architectural team, led by Feng Guochuan, faced the challenge of fitting comprehensive educational facilities and recreational areas into a compact site adjacent to a golf course. This constraint necessitated a highly efficient and creative use of space, pushing the boundaries of traditional kindergarten design. Instead of viewing the limited area as a hindrance, the designers embraced it as an opportunity to innovate, developing a multi-functional and aesthetically pleasing structure that maximizes every square meter for the benefit of its young occupants.
