Romance Was Born Unveils Playful Spring 2027 Collection, Part Two

Following closely on the heels of their initial spring debut, Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett of Romance Was Born have launched the anticipated second chapter of their Spring 2027 collection. Sales, speaking remotely from Rome, indicated this release, dubbed "part two," continues to draw from a unique wallpaper scrapbook discovered in the Powerhouse Museum Archive, which also houses their studio. While the previous collection leaned towards formal attire, this latest selection embraces a more celebratory spirit, eschewing casual wear almost entirely, aside from a fleeting reference to denim.
A notable feature of this collection is the continued prominence of elaborate embroidery and jacquard patterns, dominating every garment. There are no plain, unadorned pieces; even a striped mock-neck button-down is enhanced with flowing floral accents, while delicate feathers adorn hemlines, collars, and cuffs. Black and navy lace accents introduce an edgier feel, appearing on a floral embroidered dress with a daring slit and as subtle trim on a playful green ensemble with a retro flair.
Sales revealed that these two collections merely touch the surface of the extensive antique wallpaper book. The brand's loyal clientele can anticipate a wealth of textile innovation in the upcoming year. He explained their approach, stating, "When we embark on a project, we're brimming with ideas, and it's challenging to consolidate them into a single collection. We appreciate the opportunity to extend our creative process, allowing us to thoroughly explore and realize our vision over time."
This innovative approach to design, rooted in historical inspiration yet boldly looking forward, demonstrates a commitment to artistic expression and meticulous craftsmanship. The brand's dedication to developing unique textiles and spreading creative concepts across multiple collections fosters a sense of anticipation and ensures each piece is a thoughtfully crafted work of art, inspiring both delight and admiration within the fashion community.
