A Whimsical French Wedding Journey: Susan Alexandra Korn & Andy Nahman's Celebration

The romantic journey of Susan Alexandra Korn, a renowned designer, and Andy Nahman, a data science executive at Disney, began serendipitously at a mutual friend's birthday gathering in Brooklyn in March 2023. However, Andy's admiration for Susan had already blossomed a year prior, when he attended the vibrant opening of her Lower East Side accessories boutique in October 2021. He vividly recalls being captivated by the “magical polychromatic dream world” of her store and the palpable, magnetic energy she exuded, surrounded by her community. It was at the Brooklyn birthday party, hosted at artist Al Freeman's residence, that their connection truly solidified, marking the unofficial beginning of their shared adventure.
Their path to matrimony took a charmingly unexpected turn when Andy proposed to Susan in September 2025 during a trip to the South of France. His meticulously planned proposal near the Matisse chapel encountered a humorous snag when the chapel was closed and their celebratory champagne flutes broke. Unfazed, Andy swiftly adapted, proposing on the sidewalk amidst curious onlookers. This small mishap only added a layer of unique charm to their engagement, creating a memorable tale of resilience and spontaneity. The couple exchanged vows on August 29 at the picturesque Villa Magnan in Biarritz, France. They chose the historic estate for its “rustic charm and special touches,” including a resident donkey and lazy dogs, creating an inviting and beautiful backdrop for their union.
Their wedding festivities were a testament to their vibrant personalities, beginning with a Friday evening surprise train ride through Biarritz, culminating in champagne at the lighthouse, followed by a welcome dinner of Basque cuisine in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Susan, known for her colorful designs, prioritized the floral arrangements, envisioning a living floral sculpture and a chuppah adorned with seasonal blooms. She also designed her own ceremony gown—a butter-yellow duchesse satin creation embellished with rhinestone flowers and cherubs symbolizing their love—and a sequined after-party dress featuring their dog, Pigeon, on the back. The ceremony itself was officiated by their close friend, Alison Roman, who delivered a moving speech about the deepening colors of marriage. Both Susan and Andy's vows were deeply personal, filled with love and hope, and notably referenced their beloved chihuahua, Pigeon, underscoring the heartfelt and joyous atmosphere of their special day. The celebration continued with a communal pavlova dessert, custom cake toppers, and lively DJ sets by Alex Chapman and Jason Stewart, culminating in dancing and shared laughter under the moonlight, creating an unforgettable experience brimming with personal touches and collective joy.
This union beautifully illustrates how authentic connections, infused with creativity and a touch of serendipity, can blossom into profound partnerships. Their journey, marked by both thoughtful planning and spontaneous moments, reminds us that embracing life's unexpected turns can lead to the most cherished memories. It highlights the beauty of personal expression, the strength of community, and the enduring power of love that grows richer and deeper with time.
